The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0028 (11/25/2009)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0028 (11/25/2009)

This week on The Hank in Chains Show, we celebrate Thanksgiving by featuring The Beatles 1965 classic record Rubber Soul. While it did not feature any of the Fab Four’s well-known hits, many critics and historians as not only one of the band’s best albums, but one of the greatest ever released by anyone in the history of music. Seen by many as the band’s transition record between their Beatlemania pop days and their late 60s experimental rock and roll gold, it is a pure sonic pleasure. Enjoy a musical feast, with all the trimmings, on Flapdaddy.com!

Other music this week from: Bob Dylan, Fats Domino, Jordan Zevon, Omar and the Howlers, James Scott Bullard, Hank Williams, Tom Petty, Little Richard, Nirvana, Robbie Fulks, The White Stripes, and Howlin Wolf.

It Burns When I Pee
Episode #0035 “Intervention”

Now that you have cleaned up from Thanksgiving dinner and you have kicked all your annoying relatives out of your house, it’s time to sit back and enjoy the latest installment of It Burns When I Pee entitled “Intervention”.

In this episode we feature a face to face interview and music by Split Lip Rayfield. We also feature music by Truckstop Coffee, Ashley Riley, Liquorbox, Holly Golightly and The Brokeoffs, J.R Preston, and Doktor Barkey. As well as great music this episode is filled with TONS of laughs. Uncle Bubba calls Blake out for hitting on Mrs. Bubba and Blake sings…. ALOT! Uncle Bubba rants about Black Friday and Blake talks about his experience with an Asian girl at the eye doctor.

And if that wasn’t enough (and it usually is MORE than enough) Blake discusses the stains on his shirts, Uncle Bubba does Fan Feedback, and much much more.

“Heaven & Hell’s Holy Diver”

This weeks featured bootleg set is a 40 minute FM broadcast of DIO from 1984. In 1979, after leaving Rainbow, Dio joined Black Sabbath, replacing Ozzy Osbourne. They released the successful Heaven and Hell album, which revitalized the band’s career. It was during his time with Black Sabbath that he popularized the “devil’s horns” gesture. In 1982, the mixing of the live album Live Evil led to Dio and drummer Vinny Appice quitting the band to form the band Dio.

Also featured is a 3 song block from: Arise Within.

Other artists on this weeks Bootleg Asylum Radio Show include: Chaos Theory, Goatsnake, Gearshaft, Chris Walker, Bad Season, Thin Lizzy, G.G. Allen, Hank 3, The Black Keys, AC/DC, and more.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0027 (11/18/2009)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0027 (11/18/2009)

This week’s episode of The Hank in Chains Show features Alice in Chains‘ first new album in over 13 years, “Black Gives Way to Blue”. Marred by addiction and the eventual tragic death of founding lead vocalist Layne Staley of 2002, only a few years ago no one ever assumed we’d ever hear from Alice in Chains again. However, after a few special reunion shows, guitarist Jerry Cantrell, bassist Mike Inez, and drummer Sean Kinney got the itch to bring the band back. They recruited former Comes with the Fall vocalist William DuVall to recreate Alice in Chains’ outstanding harmony vocals. People doubted the band, especially DuVall, but “Black Gives Way to Blue” has proven the critics wrong in a big way.

Other music this week from: The Drive-By Truckers, Warren Zevon, Hank Williams III, The Reverend Horton Heat, Eleven Hundred Springs, Gram Parsons, George Harrison, The Kinks, Stone Temple Pilots, Songs from the Road Band, The Black Keys, and Jimi Hendrix.
