Bootleg Asylum Radio Show
Episode #0052 (11/20/2009)

“Heaven & Hell’s Holy Diver”

This weeks featured bootleg set is a 40 minute FM broadcast of DIO from 1984. In 1979, after leaving Rainbow, Dio joined Black Sabbath, replacing Ozzy Osbourne. They released the successful Heaven and Hell album, which revitalized the band’s career. It was during his time with Black Sabbath that he popularized the “devil’s horns” gesture. In 1982, the mixing of the live album Live Evil led to Dio and drummer Vinny Appice quitting the band to form the band Dio.

Also featured is a 3 song block from: Arise Within.

Other artists on this weeks Bootleg Asylum Radio Show include: Chaos Theory, Goatsnake, Gearshaft, Chris Walker, Bad Season, Thin Lizzy, G.G. Allen, Hank 3, The Black Keys, AC/DC, and more.

“Ship Me Back To Texas!!”

This weeks Bootleg will be featuring a 40 minute set with the GREAT Dale Watson recorded in 2005 @ Smith’s Old Bar in Atlanta, GA. Dale Watson is an American alternative country singer, guitarist, and songwriter based in Austin, Texas. He’s positioned himself as a tattooed, stubbornly independent outsider who is interested in recording authentic country music and he’s become a favorite of critics and Alt-Country fans.  I also play a 4 song block of the Erik Koskinen Band featuring demo songs and songs from his 2005 Mandan Hayseed album.

Other artists on this weeks Bootleg Asylum Radio Show include: Molly Hatchet, AC/DC, Boss Kean’s Ditch, The Guess Who, Twelve After, Snake Skin Prison, ButcherWhite, Whiskey Dick, Banjo & Sullivan, Pumpjack, and more.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0019 (12/03/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0019 (12/03/2008)

Episode 19 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature The Beatles‘ legendary self-titled album, better known as “The White Album”. Each of the Fab Four contributed writings to the album, and even though one could say the record was a compilation of mostly solo efforts, it still somehow manages to sound more than just cohesive. It’s a perfect musical work of art that still captivates listeners 40 years since its release.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Cream, Elvis Presley, Jordan Zevon, The God-Fearing Atheists, Brazilbilly, Joe Grushecky, Aerosmith, Marty Robbins, The Love Me Nots, AC/DC, Neil Young, The Smokin Bandits, and The Wallflowers.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0016 (10/29/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #16 (10/29/2008)

After a three-week hiatus, The Hank in Chains Show returns! Episode 16 will feature the music of one of the most unique bands in underground music, Those Poor Bastards. Over the past few years, Lonesome Wyatt and The Minister have perfected the sound many refer to as “gothic country”. Whether or not you believe the label fits, their eerie, dark songs certainly would William Faulkner and Flannery O’Connor proud. Mr. Ecks and I will present and discuss songs they have released over the years, including tracks from their brand new album, Satan is Watching.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: AC/DC, Hank Williams III, Joe Grushecky, Steve Earle, Route 44, Brian McGee and The Hollow Speed, John Lennon, Black Eyed Vermillion, Lucky Tubb, Cornpone, Watermelon Slim and The Workers, and Aerosmith.

Episode #0003

Episode 3 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of the man, the myth, the legend… Johnny Cash.  Even though he has become somewhat of a tall tale, the actual man and artist was even more complex than the legend.  In addition to playing his incredible music, Eric Morningstar and I will be taking in depth look at The Man in Black and discuss several aspects of his larger than life persona.  Expect lots more great music and commentary as well!

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Bob Dylan, Mudhoney, The White Stripes, Wayne Hancock, AC/DC, The Drive By Truckers, Split Lip Rayfield, Paul McCartney, and Dean Martin.
