It Burns When I Pee Episode #0074 “An Interview with T.Junior”

In this IBWIP interview special, we sit down with T.Junior. Most of you know that  T.Junior as the frontman for The Honky Tonk Hustlas, but he has released his first solo album, “Man in Gray”. Blake and T.Junior talk about the album, the latest on the status of the Honky Tonk Hustlas, and his interest in the history of the Civil War. We also talk about life in Montgomery Alabama, being a solo artist, and how we have gotten mistaken for each other.

We also play a couple songs off his solo album along with a couple songs from the latest Honky Tonk Hustlas, “South of Nashville”. It’s a really good interview and we were honored to have T.Junior on the show.

Episode #0048

This week on Blue Ribbon Radio we put aside the crazy stories, and the copious amounts of mind altering substances to bring you a tribute to the greatest of all time: Hank Williams SR. Chris Miller, Andrew Mathis, and T.Junior of the Honky Tonk Hustlas set up just mere feet from the final resting place of Hank in Montgomery, AL and discuss the man’s legacy, and try and pay tribute the best way we can. Featuring songs from all three Hanks, plus a fantastic list of artists both covering, and singing about Hiram Hank Williams. We hope you enjoy this tribute to the biggest legend in the history of country music.

“Flirting With The Hatchet”

This week I high-lite the band Molly Hatchet with songs from there first 2 albums with singer Danny Joe BrownMolly Hatchet is an American southern rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1975. The band took its name from a prostitute who allegedly mutilated and decapitated her clients. They recorded and released there first album, Molly Hatchet in 1978, followed by Flirtin’ with Disaster in 1979. Danny Joe Brown’s stage persona, gruff voice and cowboy horse-whistling had matched well with the overtly southern-influenced sounds of his era. Danny Joe Brown defined the act to that point, left the band at the end of the 1970s only to return a number of years later.

Other artists on this weeks Bootleg Asylum Radio Show include: The Phantom Creeps, The Church Of Abject Sorrow, White Knuckle Battery, Illidiance, Overlord, Doop and the Inside Outlaws, Tommie Brewster, Pegazus, Veins Iced Over, Dog Bite Harris, Joecephus and the George Jonestown Masacre, Honky Tonk Hustlas, Texas Hippie Coalition, Erik Koskinen Band, Bob Wayne, Nazereth, Kill Van Kull, and more.

“Dead Or Indifferant”

No bootleg set this week. Instead I am featuring the GREAT; mostly unknown artist Johnny Jessup.  Jessup began to sing and play his guitar, poorly, in a mobile home parked in Texas. This was quite a while ago. He served admirably in 2 Austin bands of the early emo’s period in Austin (Loud Posse and Horsethief). He went off on his own to play a low form and mixture of blues and country and raucus roll. He plays old, beat-up guitars, either acoustic or electric, either standard tuning or slide. Lots of people don’t like his shit or maybe they just don’t care. Some people like it alright, he guesses, but whatever. He recorded an album called Dead or Indifferent?, which contains 12 examples of what-the-fuck-ever it may be that he plays. You might be able to get a copy of it if you leave a message on his site.

Also I feature two 3 song blocks of music by 29 Mules and Honky Tonk Hustlas.

Artists on this weeks Bootleg Asylum Radio Show include: Swampslide, Hells Fire Sinners, Chaos Theory, Wolfscreek, Wylie and the Wild West, Pastorpastor Blues Band, Boss Kean’s Ditch, Memphis Cradle, VooDoo Vegas, The Amplifiers, Warpath, SwamDaWamp, and more.
