The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0036 (05/26/2009)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0036 (05/26/2009)

On Wednesday, May 26th, The Hank in Chains Show returns with a feature on Bob Dylan’s underrated 1978 record, “Street Legal”. On the heels of his mid-70s classic albums “Blood on the Tracks” and “Desire”, Dylan released a record that sported abstract lyrics and a big production sound similar to Springsteen’s “Born to Run”. Often unfairly criticized because of that production, it is often forgotten when Dylan fans discuss his greatest records. On this week’s show, we’ll give it the love it deserves.

Other music this week from: Stone Temple Pilots, The Black Keys, Hank Williams III, Jimi Hendrix, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, James Scott Bullard, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Buddy Holly, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, James Hand, The Drive By Truckers, and Merle Haggard.

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0032 (01/27/2009)

This week on The Hank in Chains Show, we will feature Ray Wylie Hubbard‘s new album “A. Enlightenment B. Endarkenment”. While he has achieved much fame in the world of mainstream music, Hubbard, a Texas legend, has been writing outstanding songs for decades, and the new release lives up to his legacy. With a country sound fused with a heavy dose of blues and Hubbard’s as usual brilliant lyricism, “A. Enlightenment B. Endarkenment” is a must hear record.

Other music this week from: John Fogerty, Nirvana, James Hand, Dinosaur Jr., Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Clutch, Warren Zevon, The Dead Weather, The Reverend Horton Heat, Joey Allcorn, Bob Dylan, and Chris Scruggs.

“Sex, Toys & “Live” Rock and Roll”

This weeks feature is Toys In The Forest with Live recordings from Capital Studios in Paris, and also Live recordings from Belguim. Formed in 2005, Toys in the Forest is at the crossroad of blues and Rock and roll , mixed with some heavy metal influences. ” The band was formed to perform live, we are a live act and many venues book us because we do the show, the rock n roll show” says Max. (lead vocals and guitar). The songs are all about life, parties, sex and rock n roll, but we also explore a dark side with slow tempos and heavy riffs.

I also feature a 3 song blocks from Leslie West with Jack Bruce, Rush, Jason Boland and The Straglers, and Unknown Hinson.

Other artists on this weeks Bootleg Asylum Radio Show include: Ghetto, Veins Iced Over, Guns Of Nevada, Flat Tires, Becoming, Heaven’s Basement, Steppinwolf, James Hand, and more.

“Watch America Rock N’ Roll By”

This weeks show overflowed by half an hour, Its jam packed!! featuring a fantastic sounding bootleg set from JB Beverly and the Wayward Drifters recorded in the Town Fryer @ the Algora.. Cleveland, Ohio on 8/20/09 . Have you ever wondered what happened to REAL country music? These days, only a few brave souls dare to make the kind of real country music that honors American heritage and culture: the kind of country music rooted in the influence of Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and other legends of the genre, the kind of country music that reflects real life and not the latest fashion trends. One of the strongest and most charismatic forces in the genuine country music arena is J.B. Beverley & The Wayward Drifters.

Also featured is the new album from James Hand called “Shadow On The Ground” which I play 3 songs from.

Artists on this weeks Bootleg Asylum Radio Show include: Arise Within, Pitchfork Militia, 29 Mules, Bottle Rockets, Double Eagle Standard, Johnny Falstaff, Motorhead, Jericko Rose, Allan Davey, The Bastards Of Apocalypse, Tommie Brewster, Frank Marino, and more.
