The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0029 (12/03/2009)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0029 (12/03/2009)

This week on The Hank in Chains Show, we will feature The Songs from the Road Band‘s new album, “As the Crow Flies”. While the term “underground supergroup” may be a musical oxymoron, in the case of the Songs from the Road Band, it makes perfect sense. Luckily for us, the hodgepodge of Asheville, North Carolina bluegrass all stars appears like it won’t stop recording or performing any time soon. “As the Crow Flies” is, in our opinion, the best bluegrass album of 2009. You won’t want to miss this week’s show!

Other music this week from: Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Whitey Morgan and the 78s, The Low Anthem, The Gutter Twins, Jerry Cantrell, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Those Poor Bastards, John Lennon, Joey Allcorn, and The Gin Palace Jesters.

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0022 (06/24/2009)

On June 24th, after a long hiatus, The Hank in Chains Show returned to the internet airwaves! With a new and improved format, expect a great night of music and commentary. This week’s show will feature the music of rock and roll pioneer Buddy Holly. Even though he tragically passed away at the age of 22 on “the day that music died”, his hard-rockin’ style continues to inspire bands and artists to this day.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Bob Dylan, Jerry Cantrell, Scott H. Biram, Stone Temple Pilots, Raul Malo, The Gaslight Anthem, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Memphis in the Meantime, thenewno2, Hayes Carll, Chuck Mead, Screaming Trees, and Joey Allcorn.

Episode 8 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of the incredible country band BR5-49. While getting their feet wet at Robert’s Western World in Nashville, BR5-49 emerged with as band that successfully blended classic country music and 1950s rock and roll, and has gained national critical acclaim as a result. Eric Morningstar joins me as we look at BR5-49‘s music, including their signature sound, their uncanny ability to keep traditional sounds alive, and the various members that have helped make the band a force in the underground country scene for over a decade.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Gram Parsons, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Dana Fuchs, Jerry Cantrell, The White Iron Band, The Smokin Bandits, The Muggs, and Pearl Jam.

The Hank in Chains Show
(07/09/2008) Episode #0004

Episode 4 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of one of the 90s greatest rock bands, Alice in Chains. The band, led by lead vocalist Layne Staley and guitarist Jerry Cantrell, delivered some of the hardest (and softest), darkest, and most poetic songs in the history of rock and roll. Eric Morningstar joins me as we discuss the band and take listeners down the depressing, yet irresistible road that is their music.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Hank Williams III, The Who, North Mississippi Allstars, BR549, Justin Townes Earle, George Harrison, Fats Domino, and Black Sabbath.

The Hank in Chains Show (06/25/2008)
Episode #0002

Episode 2 of The Hank in Chains Show includes not only great music and commentary, but, with the help of my co-host and psychology-genius brother Eric Morningstar, an in-depth look at the music of Warren Zevon. A unique singer-songwriter, Zevon wrote devilishly evil, funny, and yet intelligent lyrics that revealed a complex, compelling soul. A moralist in cynic’s clothing according to Springsteen, Zevon was never understood by the majority of mainstream music listeners. And yet, for those of you who aren’t afraid to look deeper into an artist’s words, appreciate dark humor, and simply love great rock and roll… this week’s show will be a must-listen event. Artists/Bands on this week’s show include: Nirvana, John Lennon, George Harrison, Dollar Store, Jason Isbell, Chuck Berry, Dwight Yoakam, Jakob Dylan, Those Poor Bastards, Jerry Cantrell, and Jimi Hendrix.
