The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0029 (12/03/2009)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0029 (12/03/2009)

This week on The Hank in Chains Show, we will feature The Songs from the Road Band‘s new album, “As the Crow Flies”. While the term “underground supergroup” may be a musical oxymoron, in the case of the Songs from the Road Band, it makes perfect sense. Luckily for us, the hodgepodge of Asheville, North Carolina bluegrass all stars appears like it won’t stop recording or performing any time soon. “As the Crow Flies” is, in our opinion, the best bluegrass album of 2009. You won’t want to miss this week’s show!

Other music this week from: Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Whitey Morgan and the 78s, The Low Anthem, The Gutter Twins, Jerry Cantrell, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Those Poor Bastards, John Lennon, Joey Allcorn, and The Gin Palace Jesters.

Episode 19 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature The Beatles‘ legendary self-titled album, better known as “The White Album”. Each of the Fab Four contributed writings to the album, and even though one could say the record was a compilation of mostly solo efforts, it still somehow manages to sound more than just cohesive. It’s a perfect musical work of art that still captivates listeners 40 years since its release.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Cream, Elvis Presley, Jordan Zevon, The God-Fearing Atheists, Brazilbilly, Joe Grushecky, Aerosmith, Marty Robbins, The Love Me Nots, AC/DC, Neil Young, The Smokin Bandits, and The Wallflowers.

Episode #0007 (07/30/2008)

Episode 7 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of rock and roll legend Chuck Berry. Even though Jim Crow was still the law of the land in the south, Berry’s vocal and guitar talent helped him break through racial barriers, and he became a hero to white and black audiences alike as he established his legacy as one of the architects of rock and roll. Eric Morningstar joins me as we look at Berry’s music, what inspired his music, and his influence on other legendary artists that considered him a hero. Oh… we also have a special announcement from Mr. Ecks, commentary, and more outstanding music from across genres.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Neil Young, Brent Amaker and the Rodeo, George Jones, The Violent Femmes, The White Stripes, Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, and The Wallflowers.
