Bootleg Asylum Radio Show Episode #0039 (07/10/2009)

Bootleg Asylum Radio Show
Episode #0039 (07/10/2009)

“Texas Is Its Own Country’s Country”

This weeks bootleg set was recorded on 6/21/2009 by Mike Kerr at the Sportsman’s Tavern in Buffalo, NY featuring “Lucky Tubb and the Modern Day Troubadours“. Lucky Tubb, who currently is opening for Hank III & Assjack, is the great nephew of the legendary honky tonk singer, Ernest Tubb. Ernest was one of the biggest stars in country music history who amassed no fewer than 82 hits between 1944 and 1979. Poor ol’ Lucky is going to enjoy about 82 hits fewer than that, not because he’s bad, in fact he’s good, very good, but he suffers from the modern day syndrome of being too country. Let’s be honest, his Uncle Ernie would be laughed out of Nashville nowadays with his chiseled looks and un-CMT vocals delivery. Lucky Tubb is very much his own man. He’s lived a troublesome life and has his own story to tell. He’s toured as opening act for Dwight Yoakam, Ray Price and Hank III but on this listening, I think he’s gonna be the headliner pretty soon.

Artists on this weeks Bootleg Asylum Radio Show include: Wicked Society, Pegazus, Graham Greene, Romancing The Devil, Scarlet Sins, Southern Spirit, Automan.ca, Angry Hank, Fanny Adams, Texas Rifles, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, and more.

In addition to his own music, the episode will also feature other artists’ recordings of Williams songs that he never recorded himself.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Hank Williams Jr., Hank Williams III, The Drive-By Truckers, Vandevander, Nirvana, The Earl Brothers, Western Electric, Nine Inch Nails, Dinosaur Jr., The Fleshtones, and Ray Price.
