The White Trash Revival Episode #0088

How do friends how do I say its another episode of great music and shitty banter by the uncouth host Donnie F Cash. He’s like a fart at a funeral and just as classy. As a matter of fact when he was in the 3rd grade he got kicked out of a neighborhood school car pool for being so vulgar. All the parents in the neighborhood wouldn’t let their kids play with him, so he just played with himself and still does. Poor bastards about blind, but he’s got a keen sense of sound and music so getcha a drank and listen to tunes by: Dishwater Bourbon-Mat D, , Cold on the Mountain-Danger & the Steel Cut Oates, Wet Tongue-The Shooter McGavins, Another Load to Fold-The Dirt Floor Band, Out of my Hands-Pumpkinseed, Backseat-Hopewell Exchange, Quarantine Blues-Hugo Clarence, Breadcrumb Trail-Slackeye Slim, Get Back on the Stage-Huntley Slim, Bull at the Wagon-Joe’s Truckstop, I’ve Seen Him Walking-Edwin Clarence Graves, Lungs,Ribs,&Heart-Snakeoil Salesmen, Talkin Jesus Owes Me Five Bucks Blues-Ursa Major, and Panties in Your Purse-Driveby Truckers.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0036 (05/26/2009)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0036 (05/26/2009)

On Wednesday, May 26th, The Hank in Chains Show returns with a feature on Bob Dylan’s underrated 1978 record, “Street Legal”. On the heels of his mid-70s classic albums “Blood on the Tracks” and “Desire”, Dylan released a record that sported abstract lyrics and a big production sound similar to Springsteen’s “Born to Run”. Often unfairly criticized because of that production, it is often forgotten when Dylan fans discuss his greatest records. On this week’s show, we’ll give it the love it deserves.

Other music this week from: Stone Temple Pilots, The Black Keys, Hank Williams III, Jimi Hendrix, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, James Scott Bullard, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Buddy Holly, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, James Hand, The Drive By Truckers, and Merle Haggard.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0027 (11/18/2009)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0027 (11/18/2009)

This week’s episode of The Hank in Chains Show features Alice in Chains‘ first new album in over 13 years, “Black Gives Way to Blue”. Marred by addiction and the eventual tragic death of founding lead vocalist Layne Staley of 2002, only a few years ago no one ever assumed we’d ever hear from Alice in Chains again. However, after a few special reunion shows, guitarist Jerry Cantrell, bassist Mike Inez, and drummer Sean Kinney got the itch to bring the band back. They recruited former Comes with the Fall vocalist William DuVall to recreate Alice in Chains’ outstanding harmony vocals. People doubted the band, especially DuVall, but “Black Gives Way to Blue” has proven the critics wrong in a big way.

Other music this week from: The Drive-By Truckers, Warren Zevon, Hank Williams III, The Reverend Horton Heat, Eleven Hundred Springs, Gram Parsons, George Harrison, The Kinks, Stone Temple Pilots, Songs from the Road Band, The Black Keys, and Jimi Hendrix.

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0021 (12/17/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0021 (12/17/2008)

Episode 21 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of the incredible band, The Drive-By Truckers. Even though they have been classified as a southern rock band, they aren’t exactly mindless stars-and-bars-waving rebs. Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley, and the band may be proud of their roots, but they also aren’t afraid to point out the ugly sides of certain sects of Southern life as well… much like the great Southern gothic writers of decades past. Oh… and the sound of their classic triple-guitar attack never gets old!

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: Nirvana, Jerry Lee Lewis, Graham Lindsey, The Pine Box Boys, BR549, John Fogerty, Stone Temple Pilots, Double Eagle Standard, The Gin Palace Jesters, Buddy Holly, Horse Cave Trio, The Dry County Crooks, and Pearl Jam.

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0018 (11/19/2008)

Episode 18 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of Kris Kristofferson. While his whiskey and cigarettes voice has prevented him from achieving the kind of stardom that his contemporaries Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings enjoyed, Kristofferson has always been the superior writer. A Rhodes Scholar, few songwriters in the history of music have had his masterful lyrical ability.

Artists/bands on this week’s show include: John Fogerty, The Black Keys, Willie Phoenix, Townes Van Zandt, Chris Duarte, Black Gasoline, Warren Zevon, Hank Williams III, Dave Arcari, The Drive-By Truckers, John Prine, Those Poor Bastards, and Justin Townes Earle.

Episode 3 of The Hank in Chains Show will feature the music of the man, the myth, the legend… Johnny Cash.  Even though he has become somewhat of a tall tale, the actual man and artist was even more complex than the legend.  In addition to playing his incredible music, Eric Morningstar and I will be taking in depth look at The Man in Black and discuss several aspects of his larger than life persona.  Expect lots more great music and commentary as well!
