The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0010 (08/20/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show
Episode #0010 (08/20/2008)

Episode 10 of The Hank in Chains Show explores the world of underground country music… the styles of country music damned by corporate Nashville. The artists played on this episode aren’t CMT trash. Instead, regardless of the style of country they write and perform, their music still has soul… the same kind of country soul that Hank, Lefty, Cash, Merle, and Waylon possessed. They are also the artists that would perform as part of a revived Louisiana Hayride… the Opry’s old rival in the 40s and 50s. While no one knows if this revival will ever happen, this week’s episode of The Hank in Chains Show displays how strong such a show would be.

Artists/Bands Featured include: Hank Williams III, Dale Watson, The Gin Palace Jesters, James Scott Bullard, Songs from the Road Band, Hot Club of Cow Town, The Straight 8’s, Justin Townes Earle, The Hackensaw Boys, Brian McGee and The Hollow Speed, Those Poor Bastards, Wayne Hancock, Robbie Fulks, Whitey Morgan and the 78s, and many more!

The Hank in Chains Show Episode #0002 (06/25/2008)

The Hank in Chains Show (06/25/2008)
Episode #0002

Episode 2 of The Hank in Chains Show includes not only great music and commentary, but, with the help of my co-host and psychology-genius brother Eric Morningstar, an in-depth look at the music of Warren Zevon. A unique singer-songwriter, Zevon wrote devilishly evil, funny, and yet intelligent lyrics that revealed a complex, compelling soul. A moralist in cynic’s clothing according to Springsteen, Zevon was never understood by the majority of mainstream music listeners. And yet, for those of you who aren’t afraid to look deeper into an artist’s words, appreciate dark humor, and simply love great rock and roll… this week’s show will be a must-listen event. Artists/Bands on this week’s show include: Nirvana, John Lennon, George Harrison, Dollar Store, Jason Isbell, Chuck Berry, Dwight Yoakam, Jakob Dylan, Those Poor Bastards, Jerry Cantrell, and Jimi Hendrix.

It Burns When I Pee Episode #0008 with Lonesome Wyatt

“Lonesome Wyatt

As the cold October winds blow in, so does It Burns When I Pee. This time though, the Devil is in charge and he’s celebrating Halloween. That witchy hellbilly gal Cheyenne, as usual, starts things off and it all goes evil from then on. We have an interview with the Goth Country ringmaster himself Lonesome Wyatt from Those Poor Bastards. There are tons of devilish tunes (including one of our new favorites Hellalujah) and a special Halloween 911 call. We also have some voicemail’s from some of our goblin fans. So be afraid all you sinners because It Burns When I Pee is going to set fire to your soul! Forget the candy we want your ears. We are sure they will be bleeding when we’re through with you.

Songs Featured From: Hank 3, Split Lip Rayfield, Hellalujah, Porter Hall Tennessee, and Joe Buck. Make sure to check out our past episodes at Section86.com
